There Are Better Ways!

Reading books can help you in so many ways. Here are a number of the reasons that reading is important:

Mental Stimulation and Cognitive Health

Reading keeps your brain active and engaged! Reading improves cognitive functions and reduces the risk of cognitive decline as you age. There are mental exercises and other forms of mental stimulus, but few of them compare to what reading can do for you.

Increased Knowledge and Learning

The added benefits to reading are that it provides access to knowledge and enhances learning. There are books, whether fiction or non-fiction that span all subjects in life. Open a book and discover what is waiting for you between the book covers.

Improved Vocabulary and Communication Skills

Regular reading can expose readers to new vocabulary words. It also conditions readers to the nuances of language and subtle hints provided through dialogue. It improves expression and is a key to understanding others and being understood.

Enhanced Empathy and Emotional Intelligence

Reading helps people develop empathy and emotional skills. As a person reads, they can imagine themselves as the protagonist and “feel” the responses to the scenarios being played out in the book.

Stress Reduction and Relaxation

Reading is a form of escapism. A person can detach for a moment from the problems of real life and immerse themselves in a new place and a new situation. I can’t say how many times just reading a book has created a new perspective and a lot more patience with my current problems.

Better Focus and Concentration

Reading teaches focus! With the Kindle app on my phone, I can pick up my story while waiting in line or while waiting for the kids to finish an activity. I have taught myself to focus quickly and immerse myself in the reading so that I can make progress with the book before the little break is over. Digital books are a Godsend!

Increased Creativity and Imagination

Reading exposes you to ideas you just would never find on your own. It provides new options and deeper avenues for creativity that could not have come to you in any other way!

Give Yourself a Lift

Start your adventure today. Pick up a good book. Put the Kindle app on your phone and have a good book with you always!
